The Cattery

The cattery has gradually evolved from humble beginnings.  The first stage was a six bay run with inside/outside quarters accessible via a cat flap in each run.  The cats are able to go inside or out as they please.

The inside of the cattery was then lined with vinyl and a grooming bench and fridge were added.

Then came two larger inside/outside stud runs, opposite the original runs and then a 100m² outdoor netted area for the cats to play in and get exercise.

It is still work in progress and there are finishing touches gradually being added such as hammocks and scratching posts, but the cats are using and enjoying it.  They love being able to walk on grass, catch bugs and feel the breeze in their coats.  It is also a good time for them to socialise with other cats.

I try and give all the cats time in the outdoor netted area each day to run around and play, and also spend many hours out there myself just watching them play and have fun.

All the girls get to spend time inside the house as well, being part of the family as do their babies.   My "mothers to be" are kept in purpose-built birthing rooms so they can have their babies in a safe and private environment and raise them until it is time for them to come inside and be part of the family.

Every cat and every kitten gets one on one time at least twice daily which makes for very quiet, affectionate and confident babies that easily mould into their new families.
