The way the system works is two trays that sit on top of each other, and the top one has holes in the bottom which acts like a sieve. To start the system off you place Oz-Pet Litter pellets in the sieve tray and a handful in the bottom tray and your system is ready to go.
Oz-Pet Litter is fantastic for litter tray hygiene. When the cat uses the tray the liquid waste is quickly absorbed by the product and breaks down into a brown sawdust-type mix. This then drops through into the bottom tray leaving the top tray contents totally dry. Any liquid waste that drops straight through the sieve tray is absorbed by the original handful in the bottom tray. Solid waste will stay on the top of the litter but in a clump and will not get all through the product like other litters do. The solids are then easily removed with a scoop (daily or twice daily) and the lower tray is emptied and used as mulch on your garden every 2-3 days depending on usage. It is recommended to clean and disinfect both trays weekly.
There are many advantages with the Oz-Pet Litter system. The pellets are made from hardwood waste, which is a natural product that would previously have been disposed of as waste, but is now recycled firstly for litter use, and secondly, can be used as a mulch for your garden. It is environmentally friendly, and a renewable resource. The system is hygienic and almost odour-free, as any smells from a fresh deposit are quickly absorbed and you are left with a faint, natural earthy/wood fragrance.
The Oz-Pet Litter system uses less litter making it a much more cost-effective alternative. Because the waste is separated from the good product you only throw away the waste, resulting in less usage. The product is economically priced, so even if you did use a normal litter tray and threw it away daily, there would still be cost savings to be made.
I have tested this product in my cattery for some time now and I would recomend it to anyone and believe it is the way of the future.
